Infection of Intestinal Parasites in Pulmonary Tuberculosis Patients

Abstract
One-thousand cases of pulmonary tuberculosis patients hospitalized at Kwangju Christian Hospital and 400 non -tuberculosis out-patients were examined for their intestinal parasite infection by formalin ether precipitation method.
Total percentage of the infection in 1.400 patients examined was 86.3%. Pulmonary tuberculosis patients and non-tuberculosis out-patients showed the infection percentage of 85.3% and 88.5% respectively.
No difference was noted in the helminthic infection between pulmonary tuberculosis patients and non-tuberculosis patients, while the infection of protozoas, especially of Endameba hisnolytica and Endameba coli, were lower in pulmonary tuberculosis patients.
In patients taking antituberculosis drugs for less than one year, multiple infection rate was found to be low in proportion to the, medication period. However, there could be found no definite relationship between multiple infection rate and medication peried as the patient receiving more than one years medication.
